International Mathematics Competition Results

Koen and Mahee with their certificates

Koen and Mahee with their certificates. Congratulation boys!

This competition is conducted annually  across Australia and in twelve other countries. There are over 1.7 million entries worldwide. The students are tested on problem-solving and high order thinking skills aspects in maths.

Koen,Yenish,Parvathy and I participated in a maths competition. Koen got a Distinction and I got a High Distinction. The test  was really hard and confusing.  My result was  34 out of 40 and I was in the top 1% of Year 3s in Victoria. I remember that one of the questions was  ‘How many factors of 27?’  and I now know that I got that wrong. To answer a  question you work it out but instead of writing the answer in the booklet there is a sheet which could say: A)27    B)0   C)5  D)4. Next to it will be a circle (A) 27 0  B)0 0  C)5 0 D)4 0). If you colour the dot with a 2B graylead you answered a question. That’s how you write a anwser in a test. I have participated in other tests too but this is my greatest result. I am very happy and proud of my result.

If I was 18…

If I was 18 I would buy a really, really, really, really, really, really, really big house with 150 rooms and 20 of them would be libaries. I would also have a mega huge kitchen as big as 4 classrooms put together. The fridge in my house could be  the size and shape of 2 bagrooms and every moning when I open fridge for the first time that day the fridge fridge would say “Good Morning, it’s Tuesday and the time is thirteen past seven”. The dining hall would have a reaaaaally long table with 101 seats.

If I was 18…

If  I  was  18  years old  I  would  be  a  doctor. When  I am  18  I  would  like a car and a house. My house is going to be big and it is going to have a garage , computer room, study room and four rooms. One  room would be mine the other three rooms would be spare rooms. I might make one of the rooms a library. When I am 18 I want to have a credit card. When I am 18 I want to camp out. I want a four wheel drive.

FOOTY COLOURS DAY!

Hana, Amy and Rebecca - St Kilda SupportersOn Wednesday 16th of September our school had FOOTY COLOURS DAY where we got to dress up in our footy team colours. Some people dressed up in their soccer and rugby teams too. On the same day we had  pizza lunch that  Ms Hogan organised. Yum! Also after lunch we had a parade where people got up when their footy teams are called to go up and march in a circle and sing the anthem for their team. When the Collingwood supporters came up there were so many people! Keon who barracks for Collingwood had an inflatable finger that he was waving around. Thank you to all the children for their donation. We will be able to buy lots of sports equipment.

We Love Reading Weird Stories!

Tia and MitchellIn 3SF we have been reading a lot of Paul Jennings stories, we are crazy about them all! We do however have one favourite book and that is Weirdest Stories. Our favourite story in Weirdest Stories is Greensleaves. Greensleaves is about a boy that is sick and tired of hearing his nickname, which is Greensleaves. This boy and his dad are not so poor but want more money beacuse they live in a an old caravan that is very dusty and want to buy a house. We don’t want to spoil the story but the boy and his father have an idea to make money. They try to work and do something useful for the whole town but this doesn’t really work to their plan.

Greensleaves is a great story to read becuase it’s very funny, especially the part when the whale explodes and the whole town stinks!

I would recomend this story to the whole school!!!
